Following sentencing this afternoon in a Toronto courthouse, Canada’s so-called Prince and Princess of Pot have been fined $195,000 each.
Marc Emery pleaded guilty to posession for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking marijuana, and possession of proceeds of crime, while Jodie Emery pleaded guilty to posession of marijuana for trafficking and posession of proceeeds of crime. All other charges were dropped.
Similar charges were also laid against Chris Goodwin, Erin Goodwin, and Britney Anne Guerra. All three pleaded guilty.
‘I accepted a plea deal for 2 counts,’ reads a tweet posted by Jodie Emery earlier today. Charges were dropped against 17 other Cannabis Culture employees as part of the deal.

I have a couple reasons for this, which I’ll explain after we are officially sentenced.

A follow-up tweet confirmed the fines that she and Marc would each pay: $150,000 each, plus a 30-percent victim surcharge fee, totalling $45,000. Both will also be on probation for 24 months and are not to participate either directly or indirectly in any illegal marijuana dispensaries.
A subsequent tweet from Marc confirmed the fines and lengths of probation for the Emerys’ cocaccused: both Chris Goodwin and Guerra were fined $13,000, while Erin Goodwin was fined $3,900. All three will be on probation for 18 months.

The Emerys were arrested in March at Toronto Pearson Airport following a series of raids at Cannabis Culture dispensaries across the country.
Initially, Marc was charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, three counts of trafficking, five counts of possession, five counts of possession of proceeds of crime, and fail-to-comply recognizance, while Jodie was charged conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, trafficking, possession, and two counts of possession of proceeds of crime.
