Personally, trying the Freeze Pipe didn’t sound appealing. I usually prefer tinctures to deliver a quick high but I’m always up for trying something new! So, here it goes. This is my guide and review of FRESHeTECH’s Freeze Pipe.
The Equipment
The Freeze Pipe is made by FresheTech. The company describes this tool as a ‘marijuana smoke cooling pipe.’ Sounds intriguing right? I thought so. Anything that makes smoking less harsh wins in my books.
This pipe is designed to be user-friendly. FRESHeTECH set out to make smoking with a pipe easy, clean, and burn-free. The pipe has a removable bowl and frozen glycerin chamber that cools the smoke down before it reaches you. This is what is supposed to make the smoking experience smooth and cool.
You have 2 product options when purchasing the Pipe. Did I opt for the XL version of the pipe priced at $79.9 because go big or go home right? But if you’re interested in trying the Pipe yourself, you can also buy the regular sized option for $49.95.

Using the Freeze Pipe
Before you pick up the Pipe to smoke for the first time, you’re best to read the instructions. Luckily, all you need to do is pop the pipe in the freezer before you plan on using it. FRESHeTECH recommends freezing it for at least an hour before use. Just leave out the bowl of your pipe when you put it in the freezer. They’re probably onto something… without freezing the glycerin chamber, the Pipe probably won’t have any real benefits over standard hand pipes.
Once your pipe has had good freezing, you can get to business. This is when the removable bowl comes in handy. While you were waiting for the pipe to freeze, you may have even prepped your grounds and bowl. Once you’ve ground some flower, pop the bowl into the top of your Pipe. If you’re a regular smoker, the next part will come easily for you. Smoke the Pipe like you would any other pipe! Light, hold your finger over the carb and then take a pull. As you pull, the glycerin chamber will be hard at work. By this point, you may have noticed that the chamber on the Freeze Pipe is larger than usual. But don’t worry – it won’t feel harsh. After the chamber is filled with enough smoke, lift the bowl and breathe the cool smoke in.
The Design
Both the regular and extra-large versions of the Pipe have an impressive aesthetic. Clear and black coloured glass lets you see the smoke move through the chamber and coils as you smoke. I personally love this feature and the simple design.
The glycerin chamber on the Pipe definitely stands out. It is oversized and heavy. You can see the clear glycerin gel change from its liquid to frozen state which also makes this pipe interesting to look at. According to FRESHeTECH, glycerin is superior to water because it stays frozen longer and doesn’t take as long to freeze. Plus, you can easily tell when it needs a refreezing.
On the downside, the Pipe isn’t the most convenient tool on the market. Some people may like the weight of the pipe. It feels and looks like a quality piece. But, it’s definitely not portable or travel-friendly, so consider it more of an in-home pipe. Especially since you need access to a freezer or very cold weather to use the Freeze Pipe as intended.
My Overall Impression
Let’s start with the obvious. The Pipe is gorgeous and I consider it somewhat of a luxury item. Not everyone will like the heavy-duty feel of this pipe, but because I only consume cannabis at home, it’s a great fit for me. I think that the Pipe is also great if you’re hosting friends. The bowl is big enough that you won’t need to constantly grind and repack it.
In terms of the smoking experience, it’s definitely helped me change my mind on pipes. As a tincture lover, I am averse to any burning or harshness. The Pipe delivered. It’s not a perfect science, but it did take away most of the burning that I associate with pipes or bongs. I think that with patience, anyone could learn to pull slow enough so that the Pipe cooled all the smoke in the chamber down.
Overall, the Pipe is an awesome hand pipe to pick up if you’re not used to smoking marijuana. If you want the benefits of cannabis without harsh-feeling smoke, this is a good option for you. While it isn’t the cheapest option on the market, it has a lot of qualities that make the price tag worth it. My advice would be to only purchase this pipe if you’re looking for an investment piece to have around your home. If you’re an avid smoker, the burning sensations typically associated with regular pipes probably doesn’t bother you. But, for people like me, the Pipe is a great alternative for consuming cannabis outside of tinctures and edibles.
