While the notion of using the sun to grow cannabis isn’t a new one, Tantalus Labs is employing the technique in a new way.
The Maple Ridge-based licensed producer was the 10th in B.C. and the 45th in Canada to be approved by Health Canada to grow cannabis.
By using purpose-built, specialized greenhouses to obtain photosynthetic input instead of artificial lighting, the company hopes to not only grow top-shelf cannabis; they want to lead the way in Canada for sustainable cultivation.
SunLab, Tantalus’s main growing facility, took two years to design and another two to construct.
The first seedlings were planted in late July and when they’re big enough, they’ll be moved from a small growing room to the greenhouse.
