While a handful of companies officially launched at the annual Lift & Co. conference, two highly personal endeavors also sprang from the Vancouver expo.
Amidst a sea of sport coats, branded after parties, and bud-less booths, two cannabis industry couples got engaged over the weekend—making a new name for the conference as a platform for romance.
Andy Le, founder of Cannabis Code, a Burnaby marketing and web design agency, proposed on Saturday (January 12) during the panel series. Le’s partner of 10 years, Sabrina, said “yes!” after he got down on one knee in front of an audience at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Dieter MacPherson, senior vice president of operations at Aurora Cannabis, also popped the question to his partner, Danielle, at a private party over the weekend.
The cannabis advocate—whose focus is on eradicating stigma around responsible consumption and parenting—shared the sweet moment online, including a peek at her gorgeous ring on Instagram.
Congratulations to both of the couples in highlighting yet another way weed brings people together.
