This year’s 4/20 is set to be the largest the city has ever seen.
In its 25th year, the event is projected to draw tens of thousands of weed enthusiasts, pot heads, and canna-curious together to celebrate and catalyze the peaceful drug liberation movement.
Last year, organizers estimated the event pulled in over 50,000 attendees. This year, not only is April 20th the first nationally celebrated weed event since the country legalized adult-use cannabis in October of 2018, but it is also smack dab in the middle of a long-weekend.
On top of all that, Cypress Hill is headlining. And it’s free.

The West Coast rap legends have spent over three decades shaping weed culture with tracks like ‘Hits from the Bong’ and ‘I Wanna Get High’. They’re also know for a strong history of advocacy, calling for fair access to both recreational and medicinal cannabis.
The event starts at noon and runs until 8:00 p.m. But when the clock strikes 4:20 p.m., the crowd will spark up, Peter Tosh’s ‘Legalize It’ will play to a well-fed cloud of smoke, and then Cypress Hill will take the stage.
The last time the group played in Vancouver, they were headlining a private event celebrating legalization for federally licensed cannabis producer Tweed Marijuana Inc.
The event will be held against the wishes of the city’s park board at Sunset Beach Park.
