But that doesn’t appear to be the case, according to an article published today in Marijuana Business Daily.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions told reporters that the 2013 Cole Memo remains “valid”.
It set the Department of Justice’s priorities around marijuana enforcement.
This cleared the way for states to legalize personal use of marijuana without facing severe intrusions from federal prosecutors.
“The Cole Memorandum set up some policies under President Obama’s Department of Justice about how cases should be selected in those states, and what would be appropriate for federal prosecution, much of which I think is valid,” Sessions said, according to Marijuana Business Daily. “I may have some different ideas myself in addition to that, but essentially, we’re not able to go into a state and pick up the work that police and sheriffs have been doing for decades.”
