Anyone with an interest in being part of Canada’s legal cannabis industry knows it takes more than few fat stacks to start up a licensed growing facility or an ancillary business related to processing, hemp production, lab testing, or retail.
Lucky for entrepreneurs attending this year’s International Cannabis Business Conference (ICBC), the investment group behind one of Canada’s largest licensed producers will provide an opportunity for them to pitch their ideas for a shot at an investment of up to $1,000,000.
‘Could you use some extra cash on your journey as a cannabis entrepreneur?’ asks Canopy Rivers on its website. ‘We know the industry needs successful players of all sizes in order to thrive – that’s why we’re opening a call to micro cannabis entrepreneurs looking for a capital infusion.’
Those who are in the process of applying for a micro-license under Canada’s proposed Cannabis Act are invited to apply for ‘pitch day’ by June 7. Applications are free, and are open to micro-growers, micro-processors, nurseries, hemp cultivators, and more.
Canopy Rivers says partners will benefit from ‘world-leading expertise within the emerging cannabis industry’, while being able to ‘develop your own unique brands and strategies, and strengthen your position within Canada’s globally leading network of emerging cannabis companies.’
Canopy Rivers Corporation and Canopy Growth Corporation will host the million-dollar pitch event during the two-day conference, happening at the Sheraton Wall Centre on June 24 and 25. The winner will be chosen during an afternoon panel on June 25.
