A marijuana strain called Freedom Dream is being made available for free to Canadians.
All they need to do is plant the seed and watch it develop into a full-fledged cannabis plant.
Overgrow Canada has offered to mail 100 seeds of Freedom Dream to people who sign up with the organization.
‘This variety will grow about 5 feet tall, and the females will produce around 10% CBD and a very low level of THC,’ Overgrow Canada’s Jennifer Cole stated in a widely distributed email.
The therapeutic potential of the cannabis extract known as CBD, a.k.a. cannabidiol, is being explored for many medical conditions.
These include epilepsy, posttraumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, substance-use disorders, schizophrenia, cancer, pain, and inflammatory diseases.
THC, a.k.a. tetrahydrocannabinol, causes the high that comes with consuming marijuana.
Overgrow Canada claimed that it gave away more than two million seeds last year.
This year, it wants to exceed that number.
‘While these seeds have some medicinal value, the real goal of the Overgrow Canada campaign is to get cannabis plants in public places,’ Cole wrote. ‘Sprout them at home, get them going, then put them in your yard, or in front of city hall, or in community gardens, or anywhere else where they have a chance to grow and make a statement.
‘Once your plants are in public, make sure to take some photos and send them our way!’ she added. ‘Also contact local media, anonymously if you like, so that your public plant can get in the news and bask in glory!’
