An RCMP investigation in the Lower Mainland that began last year has led to several arrests and the seizure of dried cannabis and thousands of cannabis plants in multiple Metro Vancouver locations.
On June 25, 2018, the RCMP’s Federal Serious and Organized Crime unit, with assistance from Canada Border Services Agency, launched Project EProminent, an investigation into the illegal export of cannabis from Canada.
Today (July 9), RCMP announced that officers used five search warrants at locations in Surrey, Langley, and Delta.
The searches in Surrey and Langley resulted in the seizure of over 1,180 kilograms of dried cannabis and over 5,300 cannabis plants, which was 5,000 more plants than the facility was licensed for. In addition, 12 firearms, five vehicles, and an unspecified large amount of Canadian currency were also confiscated.
In Delta, officers seized an unspecified amount of Aniline, which is a fentanyl pre-cusor chemical.
Six people were arrested for exporting cannabis to Europe that had been grown by medically licensed producers in Canada.
All of the arrested individuals were released from custody as the investigation continues on.
